Riches
April 9, 2022
Hola.
You're into your third week in Spain. What do you think?
Seville, Asturias, the wine cellars of Fermoselle, the canyon of the Duero: it's been wonderful.
Spain is rich in things to see.
It is. And in lovely people. We connected with people in Sobrefoz, Fermoselle, and especially in Zamora, meeting Emilia's friends.
That does deepen the experience.
Yesterday in Toro we saw some stunning mudéjar art and architecture. It made an impression on me.
Their work was impressive. Even better: the tolerance between the different faiths that fostered it.
Speaking of riches, and differences...
Yes?
I can come here and take advantage of how cheap it is. But that's the exchange rate and my earning power.
And it doesn't seem fair, does it?
No, it doesn't.
But you know every place has its pros and cons.
I know.
And you also use your money generously and responsibly, right?
I try to follow my parents' example.
And are you culturally arrogant?
I don't think so. I hope not.
And have you forgotten that everyone has their own path and circumstance to deal with?
No. But that seems like a cop-out here.
Still hung up on fairness?
I guess.
Well, you could always try to do something about it.
Besides supporting the local economy, you mean?
Yes. Accept reality, then work to change it.
I could have thought of that.
Love the depth here❤️❤️❤️
Loved this. That sure is a dialogue I'm very familiar with. I love how you portrayed it. And am comforted that I don't have these thoughts alone!
